kit antigo transformado para a versão Late que era montado sobre a plataforma do Panzer IV Ausf J. Devido à falta de carros de combate (tanques) os Stugs passaram a ser usados também nas divisões blindadas. Como se sabe, os Stugs eram armas controladas pela artilharia e que, segundo alguns, era a forma como os artilheiros conseguiam obter condecorações como a Cruz de Ferro, por exemplo. A este tipo de arma se credita o maior número de carros de combate inimigos destruídos nos campos de batalha durante a SGM.
